Muscle Performance, Strength & Recovery
Sermorelin
Sermorelin is a 29-amino-acid synthetic peptide based on the naturally occurring hormone GHRH (Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone). Rather than supplying growth hormone directly, Sermorelin signals the pituitary gland to release the body's own growth hormone (GH). It has been studied for its effects on growth hormone production, recovery, body composition, and age-related changes in the GH pathway.
How Does It Work?
Sermorelin mimics the action of the body's natural GHRH.
It binds to GHRH receptors in the pituitary gland, stimulating the release of growth hormone.
This may:
• Increase natural GH secretion
• Increase downstream IGF-1 signaling
• Support the body's normal pulsatile GH release
• Influence tissue repair and metabolism
Because it stimulates the pituitary rather than supplying GH directly, the body's natural regulatory mechanisms remain involved in GH production.
Potential Benefits
MUSCLE & BODY COMPOSITION
• Lean body mass
• Fat metabolism
• Body composition
• GH and IGF-1 signaling
RECOVERY & REPAIR
• Exercise recovery
• Tissue repair
• Muscle recovery
• GH-related regenerative processes
SLEEP & WELLNESS
Some of the body's largest natural GH pulses occur during sleep.
Growth hormone pathways are involved in research examining:
• Sleep quality
• Physical recovery
• Energy and metabolism
• Healthy aging
Sermorelin vs. HGH
Sermorelin stimulates the pituitary gland to produce and release the body's own growth hormone.
HGH (somatropin) supplies growth hormone directly.
This makes Sermorelin a growth hormone-releasing peptide rather than growth hormone itself.
Possible Side Effects:
• Injection-site redness or irritation
• Headache
• Flushing
• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Water retention
Changes in GH and IGF-1 can also affect blood sugar regulation, making appropriate monitoring important when used clinically.
Important to Know:
Sermorelin was previously FDA-approved under the brand Geref for certain pediatric growth hormone deficiency uses. The product was later discontinued, and FDA determined that its withdrawal was not due to safety or effectiveness concerns. There is currently no FDA-approved Sermorelin product marketed in the United States.
