PT-141 (Bremelanotide)
PT-141, also known as bremelanotide, is a synthetic peptide that acts on the body's melanocortin receptor system. Unlike medications that primarily increase blood flow to the genitals, PT-141 acts mainly through pathways in the central nervous system involved in sexual desire and arousal. An FDA-approved form of bremelanotide is available under the brand name Vyleesi for a specific sexual-desire disorder in certain premenopausal women.
How Does It Work?
PT-141 activates melanocortin receptors in the brain, particularly pathways involving MC4R.
These pathways are involved in:

MEN'S SEXUAL HEALTH
PT-141 has also been studied experimentally in men, including research involving erectile response and sexual arousal.
However, bremelanotide is not FDA-approved for erectile dysfunction or male sexual dysfunction.

Repeated use may also cause focal hyperpigmentation, including darkening of areas such as the face, gums, or breasts, which may not completely resolve.
Important to Know:
PT-141 is the peptide bremelanotide, but not every product marketed as PT-141 is the same as the FDA-approved Vyleesi formulation.
Bremelanotide can temporarily increase blood pressure and is not appropriate for everyone, particularly people with certain cardiovascular conditions.
